Jackie Jones Mountain Hike

Length: 5.4 miles
Difficulty: moderate - strenuous (1,300' elevation gain, some rocky terrain / trailbed)
Estimated Hiking Time: 3.5+ hours

From the parking area take the Long Path (turquoise blazes) westward until you get to the Big Hill Shelter. The Long Path will combine with the Suffern-Bear Mountain trail (S-BM, yellow blazes) prior to Big Hill Shelter.

Turn around (reverse direction) at the Big Hill Shelter and take the combined Long Path / S-BM until they separate. Stay on the S-BM when they separate. Take the S-BM until you reach the Jackie Jones Fire Tower.

Turn around (reverse direction) at the Fire Tower (after eating your lunch there). Take the S-BM south until you reach the intersection with the Long Path and then make a hard left onto the Long Path heading eastward and take it back to the parking area.

Driving Directions from NYC to the Trailhead Parking Area

From NYC take the George Washington Bridge to the Palisades Interstate Parkway (going north). Exit the Parkway at Exit 14.

Make a left onto Willow Grove Road / Route 98 (heading westward). After about half a mile make a left onto Call Hollow Road (Route 75). Drive for about half a mile and park in one of the small parking areas (you want to park near the blazes for the Long Path hiking trail (turquoise blazes). Park here (GPS: N 41.21793, W 74.05074).

Driving distance is about 34 miles from the Upper West Side of NYC and the total driving time is estimated at about 45 minutes without traffic.
